Carrboro, NC, in design development

 

3300sf residence on 10 acres. Owner grew up admiring Frank Lloyd Wright's houses in Oak Park, Illinois, and has asked for the new house to contain some of the qualities Wright championed: strong connection to the site, natural materials, and warm, intimate spaces. The other requirements relate to efficient, internal circulation and passive solar orientation. The resulting plan is linear, stretching out along the east-west axis.
